The establishment of the Coca-Cola Japan Reconstruction Fund builds upon previously extended support for earthquake and tsunami relief effort in Japan, whereby Coca-Cola pledged 7.3 million USD, i.e., 600 million JPY, including over 7 million bottles of beverages, such as water, tea and sports drinks, distributed to national and local authorities of the affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>The establishment of this Fund was announced by the Chairman and CEO of the Coca-Cola Company, Muhtar Kent, on the occasion of his recent visit to Tokyo and the areas affected by the earthquake and the tsunami.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe have been deeply moved by what we have seen and heard, and impressed by the hard work and tenacity of those involved in the relief efforts. Our vision for the Reconstruction Fund is mainly to help with the rebuilding of schools and other community facilities that support children impacted by this tragedy\u201d<\/em>\u00a0said Kent, adding that the Fund is open to enable all system employees globally to make contributions.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe empathize greatly with sufferings of Japanese people affected by this tragedy.
