We are pleased to announce two important ESG rankings as we continue our journey toward our sustainability goals.
We currently hold the highest scores and rankings across all ten of the most recognized ESG ratings, confirming our position as global leaders. Our Group is ranked among the top 1% of 9,400 companies across a total of 62 industries.
In December 2023, we were once again ranked as the world’s most sustainable beverage company according to the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) 2023. These indices are published by S&P Global. The ranking in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2024 is now publicly available and confirms our global ranking as number one in the beverages industry. Here is what the numbers show:
The second major achievement is this year’s improved CDP rating (a global environmental non-profit organization) for climate and water. In both categories, we achieved the highest rating, “A,” compared to “A-” in the previous year. This double “A” score from CDP recognizes our leadership in corporate transparency and performance. We are proud to join the small number of companies that have earned a double “A” rating from CDP.
On this occasion, we briefly spoke with Aleksandar Bojadzhiski, Beer Operations Director, and Goran Stojkovski, Supply Chain Director, to hear their views on sustainable development and where they see Pivara Skopje in the future.
„
“As Beer Operations Director, my personal commitments to sustainable development include several aspects. First, reducing CO₂ emissions by implementing strategies to lower energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy sources, aligned with our commitment to achieve Net Zero CO₂ emissions by 2040. Second, through the implementation of water-saving technologies and practices to minimize water use in the brewing process, we continuously succeed in reducing water consumption. To date, compared to 2023, water consumption has been reduced by 4%.
Equally important is the use of sustainable ingredients by prioritizing local, organic products and building partnerships with suppliers who share our values and commitments to sustainable development, as well as continuously strengthening our two-way relationship with the community in which we operate, raising awareness of sustainable development through participation in various environmental initiatives.
By delivering on all these commitments within the brewing process, my personal goal is not only to reduce environmental impact, but also to contribute positively to broader sustainable development goals, both for the community and for the industry.”
“At the local level, in the soft drinks segment, investing in modern fluid-cooling technology in the energy area (Free-Cooling Chiller System), upgrading insulation systems for thermal installations using new, more effective insulating materials, and improving the operating efficiency of packaging lines have contributed to reducing energy and water consumption.
The 2023 results show that the energy consumption ratio improved by 33%, and water by 20%, compared to the same period in the previous year.
With the introduction of the innovation – tethered caps for PET bottles, as well as further commitments to increase the use of recycled materials within our production, leading to reduced packaging waste, Pivara Skopje continues on its path toward achieving its long-term mission of continuous and sustainable development.
In addition, we strengthened our production capacities, upgraded the skills of our supply chain people through the Supply Chain Academy, streamlined our work processes through the latest generation of robotic technologies that automate all repetitive operations in the company, and increased workplace safety. My personal commitment is to continue, in an agile manner, to follow market trends and more successfully meet the needs of our customers and consumers.
All of Pivara Skopje’s efforts and investments in new technologies also represent a guarantee that the company fully and consistently applies the highest standards in this area as предусмотрed by European legislation and national laws from raw material selection, through production process control, distribution, and sales, to packaging management. I am proud that these efforts are recognized and that, together with the Group we belong to Coca-Cola HBC, we hold a leadership position in ESG ratings.”
Together, we continue building a sustainable future!
