The Coca-Cola Group, including Pivara Skopje AD, joined humanitarian activities aimed to assist and reconstruct Japanese areas affected by the disastrous earthquake and the tsunami

The Coca-Cola Company established a fund and pledged 31 million USD in total (2.5 billion JPY) over a period of 3 years, intended for relief and reconstruction efforts in the areas affected by the earthquake and tsunami. The establishment of the Coca-Cola Japan Reconstruction Fund builds upon previously extended support for earthquake and tsunami relief effort in Japan, whereby Coca-Cola pledged 7.3 million USD, i.e., 600 million JPY, including over 7 million bottles of beverages, such as water, tea and sports drinks, distributed to national and local authorities of the affected areas.

The establishment of this Fund was announced by the Chairman and CEO of the Coca-Cola Company, Muhtar Kent, on the occasion of his recent visit to Tokyo and the areas affected by the earthquake and the tsunami.

“We have been deeply moved by what we have seen and heard, and impressed by the hard work and tenacity of those involved in the relief efforts. Our vision for the Reconstruction Fund is mainly to help with the rebuilding of schools and other community facilities that support children impacted by this tragedy” said Kent, adding that the Fund is open to enable all system employees globally to make contributions.

“We empathize greatly with sufferings of Japanese people affected by this tragedy. At the same time we are proud that we, as a part of the Coca-Cola system will be able to help in the process of repairing damages of the natural disaster that shook the world” said Constantinos Spanoudis, General Manager of Pivara Skopje AD.
