More than 1,000 guests from the business sector attended the traditional Oktoberfest, held for the 14th consecutive year and organized by the Macedonian-German Business Association.
This fall, representatives from the business community, the diplomatic corps, and the media once again had the opportunity to experience the 223-year-old Bavarian tradition right here in Skopje.Antje Wandelt, Director of AHK North Macedonia and a member of the Executive Board of the Macedonian-German Business Association, together with Petra Drexler, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, traditionally opened the first beer keg using a wooden mallet. With the famous Bavarian proclamation “O’zapft is” (“The keg is tapped”), Oktoberfest in Skopje was officially declared open!
Over 1,000 guests from the business sector, diplomacy, and media enjoyed traditional Bavarian cuisine, German and Macedonian beers, and the live music of the rock band South Park.
“It is an honor that Pivara Skopje is once again part of one of the world’s most famous beer festivals – Oktoberfest. This gathering has become a local tradition and an important event for the city of Skopje. At Pivara Skopje, we are very proud of our wide portfolio of beer brands, our long-standing tradition, extensive knowledge, experience, and modern brewing technology. Our constant mission is to allow all beer lovers to experience the magic of this wonderful beverage. Of course, we are especially dedicated to promoting beer culture while continuously encouraging responsible consumption,” said Dušan Mitrev, General Manager of Pivara Skopje.
“For me, this is the first Oktoberfest in Skopje, and I’m delighted to see how well this long-standing German tradition has been embraced. Each year, the number of German investments in North Macedonia increases, and with that, the number of our guests at Oktoberfest grows as well. Tonight, 1,000 representatives of the business community are here with us to celebrate our shared successes and raise a glass of cold beer to our dedicated work,” said Antje Wandelt, Director of AHK North Macedonia and member of the Executive Board of the Macedonian-German Business Association.
“I’m especially pleased that Oktoberfest in Skopje has become a tradition. This event is of great importance for the city of Skopje and plays a key role in strengthening both the economic and cultural ties between our two countries,” said Petra Drexler, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to North Macedonia.
The celebration of Oktoberfest in Skopje is an event of great significance for fostering both economic and cultural cooperation with Germany. The original Oktoberfest in Munich welcomes over six million visitors each year, and this year’s festival runs from September 16 to October 3.
